Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. and Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. signed recently a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to consider joint development in the area of carbon fiber composite material for automotive use.
The two companies have been discussing the possibility of developing new applications in the area of CFRP for automotive use by combining MRC’s technology in CFRP intermediate materials and process technology and Lamborghini’s technology and knowledge in developing light-weighted component products and, today, signed the MOU, agreeing to start concretely considering the implementation of joint development.
Based on the MOU, MRC and Lamborghini will start the consideration of the possibility of joint development, for the coming period of approximately a year, of new CFRP utilizing new materials and new technologies in the area of carbon fiber composite material for automotive use, especially the technology to shorten processing time, to reduce production work and to automate the production.
