LCVs and motorcycles slow revival: SIAM

Production
The industry produced a total 7,799,546 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers in April-July 2015 as against 7,661,366 in April-July 2014, registering a marginal growth of 1.80 percent over the same period last year.

Domestic Sales
The sales of Passenger Vehicles grew by 7.46 percent in April-July 2015 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, Passenger Cars grew by 10.68 percent while Utility Vehicles and Vans declined by (-) 0.32 percent and (-) 1.43 percent respectively during April-July 2015 over the same period last year

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 5.63 percent in April-July 2015 as compared to same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at 24.86 percent while Light Commercial Vehicles declined by (-) 5.24 percent during April-July 2015 over the same period last year.

 

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 5.63 percent in April-July 2015 as compared to same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at 24.86 percent while Light Commercial Vehicles declined by (-) 5.24 percent during April-July 2015 over the same period last year.

Three Wheelers sales declined by (-) 8.41 percent in April-July 2015 over the same period last year. Passenger Carriers and Goods Carriers declined by (-) 9.25 percent and (-) 4.46 percent respectively in April-July 2015 over April-July 2014.

Two Wheelers sales registered a marginal growth of 0.52 percent in April-July 2015 over April-July 2014. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters and Mopeds grew by 9.45 percent and 2.53 percent respectively while Motorcycles dropped by (-) 3.02 percent in April-July 2015 over April-July 2014.

Exports
In April-July 2015, overall automobile exports grew by 8.59 percent. Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers and Two Wheelers registered a growth at 2.94 percent 24.37 percent 28.96 percent and 6.33 percent respectively in April-July 2015 over April-July 2014.
