Mercedes-Benz inaugurates new R&D facility in Bengaluru

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has further strengthened its presence in India with the inauguration of a new Research and Development facility in Whitefield, Bengaluru. This one is close to the Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) head office, which is also located in Whitefield. The facility is spread across 1,19,227 sq.ft. and can house around 900 employees.

Commenting on the occasion, Thomas Merker, Vice President Body and Safety, Mercedes-Benz Cars Development and acting Chairman MBRDI said_ “The digital transformation of our company is in full swing and is affecting our entire value chain. Our India center through its talented workforce provides the necessary gilt edge raising the digital quotient of the company. MBRDI supports multiple regional hubs of Daimler in keeping the product on computer for as long as possible.”

The MBRDI facility in Pune has now been expanded to 23,318 sq.ft. with an additional seating capacity of 203 employees. Owing to expansion, the facility is now capable of seating a total of around 600 employees.

Adding further, Manu Saale, MD & CEO MBRDI, stated_ “At MBRDI, we are firm on our mission to be a Center of Excellence within Daimler for Engineering & IT. Now with 19 years behind us, we are excited about our growth and what we offer here at MBRDI. With the proximity of the new office to our head office at Whitefield Palms, we ensure that functional collaboration while offering our colleagues with best in class infrastructure and facilities.”

Mercedes-Benz will be rolling out 12 new models in India this year. With the inauguration of a third facility, the company will roll out more local-friendly models in the country and also improve customer service experience.
