It pays to be smart, and that is exactly what Magna International has been recognized for by Ford Motor Company. Magna received a Ford World Excellence Award in the Smart category. The award recognized Magna’s leadership and excellence in innovation and its commitment to delivering high-performance products that exceed Ford’s expectations, which aligns with Ford’s Smart brand pillar. “With innovation at the core of Ford’s mission and a key priority of our company, it is critical that we develop and deliver innovative products that support our customer’s goals and can be sustained by the market,” said Swamy Kotagiri, Magna’s Chief Technology Officer. “This award exemplifies our ability to deliver on that, and we are extremely pleased to be recognized by a long-time OEM partner.”
The Ford World Excellence Awards honor Ford’s top global supplier partners. The awards were given in ten categories that highlight the suppliers’ excellence in key areas including quality, cost, performance and delivery. “Ford’s World Excellence Awards allow us to recognize and thank our partners who support us in all we do” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s Group Vice President of Global Purchasing. “In a year with a record number of global product introductions, these companies demonstrated a strong commitment to both quality and performance, and we’re honored that they are a part of our ONE Ford team.”
Two recent examples of Magna’s smart innovations can be found on the all-new Ford F-150 pickup truck. These include PureViewTM seamless sliding window, a first-to-market product that also won the Automotive News PACE Award, and SurroundVueTM, a 360-degree camera system that is available for the first time on a pickup truck.
