Brandenburg. Together with numerous ZF employees, Uwe-Karsten Städter, Member of the Executive Board of Porsche AG for Procurement, and Dr. Stefan Sommer, Chief Executive Officer of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, today celebrated the official production start-up of the new 8-speed dual clutch transmission (8DT) at the Brandenburg plant. The ZF and Porsche engineers developed a hybrid transmission modular kit based on the all-new 8-speed dual clutch transmission for standard and all-wheel drives. ZF is investing more than 100 million euros in the highly flexible production of the new transmission system at the Brandenburg location.
“The new 8-speed dual clutch transmission allows us to offer maximum flexibility for sporty applications – from the all-wheel drive to the plug-in hybrid,” said ZF Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stefan Sommer at the official production start-up. “In addition to the all-new transmission modular kit, state-of-the-art production techniques and processes here in Brandenburg make such wide-ranging options possible.”
ZF develops and produces manual transmissions and dual clutch transmissions for passenger cars at its location in Brandenburg. Around 1,200 employees produce more than 600 transmission systems a day. The location has been producing 7-speed dual clutch transmissions since 2008 and the first 7-speed manual transmission came off the production line in 2012.
